“The first sculptural piece I ever created was “Uma,” a sweet solid bronze figurine. I had some clay in the studio and just started working it into the shape of an empowered feminine figure. I created two more pieces that required supporting armatures in their construction, and then I cast all of them into small editions. When I began creating the armatures, I immediately got carried away and continued to weave and pull the wire into completed figurative pieces. I fell in love with the way light passed through the wire-formed figure, embracing the concept of all humans as spiritual beings. My sculpted figures tell stories, and the wire itself became symbolic of the scars and flaws that shape us all.”
