“Portraits have a way of telling us so much. The era and the historical context in which a portrait is situated can immediately convey the beauty, hardship or cultural hierarchy of the time. Classical portraiture is vitally important to humanity and has always fascinated me. I love studying portraits in museums. As I look into the eyes of the figures, I dream about their stories. I suppose I relate because my figures each have their own stories to tell. And although most of my work is created in full figures, I decided to play with my own interpretation of portraiture in a project that has brought me so much joy.”
